The ‘Brief’ on this job was to see if it could be “fixed” ? repaired ? saved ?
It looked in reasonably bad shape a somewhat dilapidated Gazebo with cracked and loose timbers coming apart and old shadecloth needed a new lease of life to be a useable outdoor area once more.
The up side was that though some timbers had split and cracked and needed replacing the structure was made from CCA treated pine and the timbers had not rotted away so mostly still of good value to keep.
First thing was to cover and protect the spa
remove the non useable timbers and clean the whole structure down.
Next was to fill cracks in the timbers we were keeping with an exterior grade filler
sand back and then paint timbers
then cut in new purlins to take the roofing
once all the new timbers were added in and all existing timbers resecured it was time to add on the roofing …
add on the roofing and secure the flashings
Last but not least was to fill and sand the handrails
