JOB DESCRIPTION:
Dismantle and remove an existing Patio. Replace with a New gable Patio
Our client wished to have an old flat patio removed and replaced with a pitched roof patio.
The old Patio had some rotting timber rafters in it and the roof was not held on too securely to the elevated roof battens which in turn were not secured too well to the main structure.
It was also very hot, with the grey tint polycarbonate of old, and being a flat design and so close to ones head was often only used in the winter months.
One of the things our client asked was for the home of ‘Mr & Mrs Wagtail” to be saved if possible.
They had their nest on the vine that covered the main beams..
Of course nothing could be done until the babies had hatched…
. . . . and left the nest . . .
. . . . which eventually they did.
In the meantime plans were drawn and submitted to council.
From day one, of dismantling and removing the old patio to the building of the new patio, every care was taken to save the vine and the birds home.
Once the old patio was dismantled, and the new main beam was put up, we immediately resecured the vine back to a similar position as before …nest intact…much to the delight of the owners.
From here we continued on to construct the new patio for our client and ‘Mr & Mrs Wagtail.’
Once all the framework was erected it was repainted and touched up where needed before the new roofing went on.
The gable at the house gutter was covered in with clear polycarbonate to provide weather proofing for that end.
The roof was covered in a Solar Smart polycarbonate sheet which cuts out 79% of solar heat transmission giving the owners much more days of use than the previous patio.
