This is Marys Gazebo. It was built in honour of her late husband Eddie.Mary wanted a covered space where she could sit and enjoy the outdoors.

The structure is based on a Cabana style or stretched gazebo but due to the limited space we decided to make it 2/3rds the size.

There was a tree that had been poisoned some time ago and the ground cleared.

After the initial layout and upon starting to dig the post holes we encountered some large tree roots

which of course had to be removed as the gazebo post was directly over the top of one of them.
The Gazebo has a turrett on top.

The 1/3 Gazebo section we cut off we framed as a wall & lined with tongue and groove lining boards.

Four handrails and straight frieze trim under the beams finish off the gazebo.
All the timbers were stained in 3 coats Jarrah stain including the Merbau decking.

Throughout the Job we had  constant supervision from these ‘Tawny Frogmouths’ who perched in the palm tree next to the Gazebo during the day.

Their silvery-grey plumage patterned with white, black, and brown streaks and mottles allows them to freeze into the form of a broken tree branch and become practically invisible in broad daylight. The tawny frogmouth will often choose a broken part of a tree branch and perch upon it with its head thrust upwards at an acute angle using its very large, broad beak to emphasise the resemblance
